Meat Now-man was filmed alone late at night. The deliberate isolation a direct response to a public performance Live-Feed for the exhibition Expanded-need Extended-desire, where three days before – in the same gallery – I was fed by an audience continuously for 1 hour with my cognitive senses blocked. Inpired by Bruce Nauman’s Art Make-Up 1967-69, Meat Now-man follows the same strategy of reinterpreting mundane routines from daily life to abstract personality, or conceal the body and identity. By smearing my body with chocolate that appears to be regurgitated I slowly and methodically reveal detail as features are gradually bought into focus, giving life to the notion of self-elaboration by applying another type of mask that simultaneously presents my true identity.
