From January – October 2015 this blog will document the development of Converging Boundaries, Soul Food Proximity, a socially engaged project around Melbourne exploring markers of local identity in food habits through diverse ritual acts. This is the second project in a program of three residencies and exhibitions with the Converging Boundaries theme exploring the subjects of mobility and mutability through cookery and shared meals.
The first is Converging Boundaries, Everyone and Nobody for the group exhibition Fall into the Sea to Become an Island at Run Amok Gallery, George Town, in conjunction with an Asialink residency – Malaysia, 2014. The second is Converging Boundaries, Soul Food Proximity, which will be presented as a one-week experimental and interactive performance at West Space gallery October 2015. The third project (yet to be titled) will be an exhibition and performance at Albury Regional Gallery in October 2017, the outcome of a long-term community engagement project in Albury Wadonga.
