Received a City of Melbourne Art Grant
For 10 months I will undertake a social engagement project on eating habits and ritual in the suburbs of Melbourne titled Converging Boundaries, Soul Food Proximity. The outcome will be at West Space Gallery in October 2015, presented as an experimental participatory performance over one week.
Received an Australia Council for the Arts, Early Career – New Work grant
This grant will go toward the production of video documentation and travel for a one-year community engagement project in Albury Wadonga. This new work will be exhibited in conjunction with a performance event at Albury Regional Gallery in March 2016.
Received an Asialink Residency.
From June to August 2014, I will undertake an Asialink residency at Cherry Cake Studios in George Town (Penang) Malaysia. While there I plan to interact with local artists, residents and tourists on a project that explores food folklore, the performative nature of street vendor cooking and eating that represents ethnic diversity within the layers of George Town’s architecture and living history. This project will lead to future work back in Australia, making a major contribution to an upcoming community collaboration project and exhibition at Albury Regional Gallery late 2015.
On the first of June I take over a new studio space at Seventh Gallery on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Australia Council for the Arts, ArtStart grant.
This grant from Australia Council for the Arts will go toward career development programs during 2013, and includes training courses, studio rent, new equipment, and travel for an international residency in Iceland to finish a community engagement project initiated in June this year.
